What is BAMS in IMS-BHU all about?

BAMS, which stands for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery is an undergraduate degree program designed to introduce students to the concepts of Ayurveda and use them to treat patients. BAMS incorporates Ayurveda with the concepts of modern medicine and students are taught a combination of the two as part of their curriculum vitae.

The Faculty of Ayurveda constitutes:

An ayurvedic pharmacy and dispensary that works to provide proper and quality medicine to the patients at SSH hospital.
A medicinal plant garden that has more than 200 classical medicinal plants which are used in medicine making is present in the department of Dravya Guna. The plants are obtained from various parts of the country.
Museum- A raw drug museum for minerals and metals in the department of Ras-shastra and herbarium and a crude drug museum consisting of more than 450 herbarium species in the department of Dravya Guna.
Library- A separate library for the UG students is established in the faculty itself and a separate section is reserved for pg students in the library.
Hostels- Separate accommodation for boys and girls are present at Nagarjuna hostel, Ruiya annexe, Atreya, Old Ruiya, hostel mother Teresa, hostel Sukanya and K.G. hostel.

Eligibility

The minimum eligibility criteria to pursue a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from IMS-BHU is given below:

Candidates must have passed Intermediate/ 10+2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) as the subjects for the BAMS course.
Candidates should have obtained a minimum score of:

50% marks for General category,
45% marks for Physically challenged (PC) General category,
40% marks for SC/ST/OBC and respective Physically challenged category.

Age Criteria: Age limit for admission to IMS-BHU will be same as per applicable for NEET exam.

BAMS Admission

The admission to the BAMS course is done mainly through the entrance exam.
The candidates must appear and qualify for the NEET-UG to be eligible for admission in the BAMS course.
The registration process of the NEET is scheduled to start in March or April 2021.
The NEET exam will be tentatively conducted on August 1, 2021.
The application fees of NEET for the general category is INR 1,500. Application fees for the SC/ST categories are INR 800.

How to Fill BHU BAMS Application Form?

The candidate has to give the NEET exams compulsorily as the admission is done in IMS-BHU through NEET rank only. Every year, the Application form of BHU BAMS is released via online mode on the official website of Banaras Hindu University.

Admission in IMS-BHU is being done through the NEET marks since 2018. The advantage for students of UG is that they are offered a 50 per cent quota in PG seats in BHU.

Make the payment of the Application Fees and finally submit the application form.
