BHU Re-open: Probably a big news for the students for Banaras Hindu University. BHU administration is planning to re-open the university in a phased manner from 17th February, 2021.
Students were protesting for the re-opening of the BHU campus. The protests began on Friday morning with the gathering of students at the VC residence. Students had demanded that the library, canteen and hostel of the university departments should be re-opened as soon as possible.
At the same time, the students went to the Vice-Chancellor’s Office at the Central Office and had a lot of debate with the Vice-Chancellor. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor said that the university would be opened with immediate effect.
Lockout at central office
The students demanded that the central Library should also be opened completely. Along with this, the process of hostel allocation should also be started. Apart from this, the facility of mess canteen in all the refreshments, hostels of the campus should be started immediately. The students sitting on the dharna said that if BHU administration will not listen to them, then this protest will go on uninterrupted, which will be the responsibility of the university administration.
The deputy chief proctor, who arrived at the spot, tried hard to convince the students sitting on the dharna, but the students kept on mobilizing their demands. On the other hand, ABVP workers blocked the Central Office. They demanded that the university hostel facility should be restored immediately.
